12th edition of the world day of the rural woman: the country-women and the peasants of Bangang decide to take the bull by the horns

The country-women and the peasants of Union MADZONLA' AZIZI of Bangang organized on October 11, 07, in collaboration with the Cell Kind and development of the CIPCRE, one day of activities to commemorate the world day of the rural woman. Nearly five hundred people took part: administrative, traditional, political, religious, authorities and picture framers of the rural world, NGOs and partners, a delegation of the Department Swiss Missionary, and the curious ones! One of the most important activities of this day was the round table.

A round table to reconsider the participation of the woman in community development

The topic adopted for the occasion was: "EFFORTS OF PARTICIPATION OF BANGANG WOMAN IN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT". These efforts, the country-women and the peasants of Bangang showed them through a round table prepared and presented by the members the Union.

To take in hand its destiny or to die

Such seems to be the substance of the four interventions pronounced during this round table by three women members of the union (of which the president of the network of the women of the district of Bangang and Delegated union, the Deputy one of Gic AGROFOBA, the Deputy one of Gic AGREEMENT and the Departmental Delegate for the Promotion of the Woman and the Family These interventions related successively to the Union, its life and its great achievements, on the principal and specific difficulties of the women in Community development, and finally on the prospects and realistic strategies for a better participation of the woman and Union with the Community development.

On the Union, we learned that it has 15 years of existence and includes/understands 20 Gic credits, representing approximately 600 people including 75 % of women. It realized under the accompaniment of the CIPCRE, many durable projects: durable techniques of agriculture (organic fertilization, plantation of leguminous plants, afforestation, layering...), medicinal plants, approach kind with the participation of all the members of the family in the various tasks, which raised recently the quality of work within the Union, and formations various. The Union became since 2003, the focal point of production of potato, and is achieving serious progress as regards onion to be able to obtain a similar statute.

The specific difficulties of the Bangang woman start with the socio-family overload and the passivity of united vis-à-vis with the family responsibilities. It rises early and lie down late, do not rest sufficiently. It carries out sometimes only work pastoral, domestic, assists and follows the sick members of the family; she does not have the sufficient and adapted means of production. However, it recognizes being better formed today than it there has ten in several fields, and controls better its medium of life. Its other weaknesses relate to the low capacity of marketing of its products, the poor level of information on the projects and programmes of financing of the country initiatives, of the setting in network, the approximate organization as regards grouped sale, the lack of tools of transformation of the products. In spite of these difficulties, the country-women and the Bangang peasants consider the future with much realism and hope. Thus speaking about its future, the union plans to reinforce its capacities in the areas of the durable modern technologies of production, in the planning of the production (what to produce and when to produce). The setting-up of a market of biological products is also a concern which the Union regards as noble and urgent, taking into account the request; the improvement in onion culture and the maintenance of the leadership as regards potato closed this survey of veil on the future of the Union.

The intervention of Delegated Promotion of the woman and the family came to put a little flat at the complaints and difficulties from the women. A true comparison was established starting from this intervention between the delegation and the Union (because the women of the Union and the Union it even had not had a contact with the Delegate yet before. Before answering the 7 put questions with him, the Delegate congratulated the union for the progress achieved as regards kind and development, and encouraged the Union to continue the promotion of the Kind without forcing, in spite of socio-cultural gravities which he knows well of the medium. It declared the best defender of the women on all the levels, and précised its essential role: the search for suitable solutions to the problems of the woman. It however recorded the low representativeness of Bangang to the formations and to go to the level of the district and the province. The characteristic of its intervention was the information given to the women on the various programs of financing which exist in the West to support the country projects: the Subroutine of Reduction of Poverty at the Base, which is a subsidy for the agro-pastoral activities, can go up to 10 million; the Program of assistance financed by funds PPTE, funds rotary of the MINPROF which replaced the old Program Kind and which became a true subsidy. It gave the very favourable conditions of access to these programs and invited the women forthwith to present projects to it. The delegate finished his intervention by taking note of the request formulated by the women on the techniques of transformation of the local products.

The debate was opened with all and all, and from many questions, reflections and comparisons came to enrich on the bottom the contents by this round table.
