Improvement of the nursery gardeners control the CIPCRE organizes a workshop with Banso

On November 06, 2007, a workshop on improvement of the pilot nursery gardeners of CIPCRE took place in Bansoa. 16 nursery gardeners including 4 women who came from the localities from Bangang, Bamendjing, Bati, Bandjoun, Bahouan, Bamougoum, Bansoa and Bamekombo took part. It acted as a workshop of experience sharing in techniques of germination of the forest and condiment species between the participants. During this workshop, basic lessons were brought on:
the nature of the seedbeds;

  1. characteristics of a seed-bearer good;
  2. the period of harvest of the seeds;
  3. problems related on the collecting and the harvest of the seeds;
  4. hypogeum, épigée and intermediate germination;
  5. concept of dormancy (embryonic, tegument and chemical);
  6. duration of the lifting and usual rates of germination.

Opportunity was offered to the participants to visit an integrated seedbed (developed for the first time in Cameroon by CIPCRE) and to discover of them the essential components which are:

  1. a unit of domestication with park with wood and propagators;
  2. a site of composting; ? a manufacturing unit of medicinal plants;
  3. a unit of germination made of several boards for germinators;
  4. a manufacturing unit of seedlings of trees of various species in packed mounds (with nearly 15 000 seedlings of trees of various species in production):
  5. a permanent water point..

At the end of this workshop, seeds were brought like support in vegetable material to the persons in charge for the various seedbeds. This material is composed of 12 kg of the two species of Fagara, 1 kg of cypress, 100 grams of pine, 5 kg of pepperbush, 200 seeds of leloum, bitter kola and 15 kg of djansang. All the participants went back to their various rich localities of new knowledge on the germination of the cypresses, the pynus, the eucalypti, Djansang, and several species condiment.
